Join the Children's Commissioner for the 2025 Longford Lecture

11 November 2025

Dame Rachel de Souza will be delivering the 2025 Longford Lecture, on the theme of: ‘Guilty until proven innocent: Every child’s right to freedom, fairness, and opportunity’.

The Longford Lectures, hosted by the Longford Trust since 2002, are held each November reflecting on prison policy and the need for broader social reform. Previous lectures have been given by well-known figures, including Archbishop Desmond Tutu, President Mary McAleese of Ireland, and Cherie Blair.

My lecture will include the findings of my latest report, Children on custodial remand, which I will be publishing tomorrow morning.

I invite you to watch the lecture live: https://youtube.com/live/XS7TnM4LNFQ
6.30 - 8.30pm, Tuesday 11th November 2025.

Best wishes,
Dame Rachel de Souza
Children's Commissioner
