FASD (Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder)

Trainer:  Dr Cassie Jackson, Consultant Clinical Psychologist.

Dr Cassie Jackson is a Director at the Psychology Clinic of East Anglia. She provides an expert witness service to the family courts, and is clinical lead for their neurodevelopmental assessment service, specialising primarily in the diagnosis and management of FASD.

Dr Jackson will guide you through key learning in the following areas:

• The significance of FASD in the general population, care proceedings, and looked after/adopted child populations.
• Its clinical presentation and comorbidities in both children and parents.
• How FASD is assessed and diagnosed.
• Issues relating to parenting capacity and criminality.
• Differential diagnoses between FASD and poor mental health.
• Prognosis and management.
• Time for questions and discussion at the end.

The short course will be of interest to social workers, children’s guardians, family court advisers and children’s solicitors, including new entrants and those who wish to update their knowledge in this key area.
