SUMMARY:Understanding the Black Child's Journey through the Courts

DESCRIPTION:This 2 part course takes place on Day 1\, 8 February 2022 at 09.30 – 12.30 – 3 hours and Day 2\, 22 March 2022 at 09.30 – 12.30– 3 hours\n\nEvidence suggests that:\n\nthere is an over-representation of children from minority backgrounds in the care system\;professionals lack the confidence and skills to challenge basic assumptions in decision making processes\;children who are in statutory care have poor life chances and are more likely to be homeless\, criminalised and living in reduced circumstances.Aims of the course:    The 2-part course will enable participants to:\n\nshare knowledge and reflect on current practice\;examine the structures and systems within which care proceedings take place\;develop care planning skills on anti-racist practice with children and families\;have better awareness of and confidence in challenging racism and discrimination\;challenge poor unresponsive practice\;take personal and professional responsibility for safe practice\;understand risk in relation to the needs of black children and families\;ensure parents and families of black children feel included and valued\;make achievable plans for future action\;consider how to challenge assumptions.Please contact nagalro@nagalro.com for further information and application form\n\nDay 1\, 8 February 2022 at 09.30 – 12.30 – 3 hours and Day 2\, 22 March 2022 at 09.30 – 12.30– 3 hours\n\n
