The Silencing of Children in Safeguarding Children Processes and Investigations
How professionals, the courts, media etc conspire to silence abused children and how to prevent it.  Do join us for this critical debate in safeguarding practice.
Professor Chris Goddard is Visiting Professor at the University of Hertfordshire & Adjunct Research Professor in Education, Arts & Sciences at the University of South Australia.  He is Director of Kindred Consultancies, & in 2018 was re-appointed as an Editorial Consultant to Children Australia, Cambridge University Press. He gained his Honours degree & professional social work qualification in England UK.  In 1982 he was appointed Chief Social Worker at the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne.  He was a founding member of the Australian Childhood Foundation.  Professor Goddard's focus has continued in child abuse & child protection as well as extensive work in the health & welfare of workers in child protection.  In 2006 he co-authored with Dr. Neerosh "The Truth is Longer than a Lie", one of the first works to give a voice to children who have been abused.  This has since been adapted into a play.  Professor Goddard has published extensively & in recent years has written newspaper articles highlighting failures to protect children in churches.  He is currently completing a study of child abuse deaths in conjunction with the Police in Victoria.
A seminar designed for social workers, children’s guardians, solicitors, and others involved in public and private court proceedings relating to children.

The Course will attract 2.5 hours CPD Credit from the Law Society.
