This 2 day course aims to enable professionals to develop their knowledge and practice when working with conflict and to support them in their critical analysis of conflict situations to aid effective assessments and decisions about interventions. It will introduce a range of theoretical conceptual models to consider the nature and causes of conflict and look at how mediation skills can be applied to your work and also the lessons which can be learned about conflict from serious case reviews when working with families in crisis. A range of methods will be used, included a conflict styles questionnaire, case material, small and large group discussions, role play and skills based sessions to explore the range of theoretical and practice issues under consideration.
Trainers: Lorraine Schaffer: Former Director of the Centre for Mediation and Conflict Resolution at the Institute of Family Therapy and Jean Kelly: Independent Social Worker and Graduate of the MSc in Conflict Resolution and Mediation Studies run by IFT and London University.
