Susan Bindman, Chair of NAGALRO,
said today:
“All
those concerned with the welfare of vulnerable children will be
delighted at the outcome of today’s Judicial Review proceedings in the
High Court. Mr Justice Scott-Baker’s judgement and findings
validate NAGALRO’s strenuous efforts to pull this vital service back
from the brink of disaster.
“Following
the quashing of the decision to offer only fully-employed contracts to
children’s guardians, NAGALRO welcomes the ready acceptance by CAFCASS
in court of the need to return to the consultation process and the need
for full transparency in that process.
“The history of the circumstances which led to this
Judicial Review suggest that some hard consultation processes lie ahead.
But we very much look forward to entering on this new stage of
discussion with our colleagues in CAFCASS. We know this can lead in due
course to the unity of purpose which is to provide the service to which
every child in public law proceedings is entitled.”
